Read and Play Community Recap

Have you been checking out the Random House Community over at The Blog Frog? No? This makes me sad.  Oh what wonderful things you’ve missed! For starters, we’ve had Live Chats with Chris RaschkaRebecca Stead & Clare Vanderpool, Mary Pope Osborne, David A. KellyJohn Stephens and we even had a Sesame Street Work Shop!

It’s been a great experience for me to be knee deep in books once again. I’d forgotten just how much I love interacting with fellow bibliomaniacs and nerds alike.  Not only have we had some very active Live Chats but, we have also had some great conversations.  Among them:

And yesterday, I received this lovely collection of books that transported me back to my book buying days and brought a smile on to my face and a warmth in my heart that only the feel and scent of new books can bring.

The live chat yesterday was fantastic as we got to talk about the new Elmo’s Big Birthday Bash app which is a Step Into Reading Level 1 book.  It was very interesting and I’ve already downloaded the app on to my mamiPad and can’t wait for the frog princess to sit with it.

If you’re thinking “mami, why are you telling me this if we’ve missed it?” well you haven’t missed all of it.  The community is still going to be around come May.  And I don’t know how, but I am even more excited about May! Why you ask? Well, we will be talking to Tom Leveen, Judy Blume (YES! Can you say, Forever?), Tad Hills, Devon Kinch, Trudy Ludwig and Kate Klimo.

We will also have some great conversations about reading, fostering the love of books, printables and activities and a myriad of other subjects.  Feel free to start your own conversation or, contribute to one that’s already been started. We are here to help you with any questions you might have or just chat about books that you love!

I hope to see you there!

About Sili

Sili is the owner and Chief Executive Mami of Mamihood Media and My Mamihood. Selected as one of Latina Magazine’s top Blogger to Know in 2014 and Latina Magazine’s top 10 Mommy bloggersin 2013, My Mamihood was described as “a haven for fashion inspiration, baby concerns, must read books and even tech musings! This blog will keep you reading for hours…” When not appearing on top 10 lists or speaking passionately about those things she holds near and dear to hear heart, this Afro Latina loves hanging out with her frog princess, helping others, trash talking in her setting up all-girl Fantasy football leagues, reading and finding new gadgets to play with. She is currently punishing herself by pursuing an MBA with a concentration in social media from Southern New Hampshire University on hiatus from school much to the chagrin of her Type A personality.

  1. When is the Chat with Judy Bloom. I would love to tell her how much I loved her books as a kid. :-) Tweet me a reminder if you can.
