My Biotrue® Challenge Results

Last month I told you I was embarking on a one-month challenge with some new contact lens solution. I have a confession to make: I set Biotrue® up to fail. Not intentionally but I wanted to really, really test them out. I didn’t throw out my contacts when I was supposed to and instead, I switched to Biotrue with older contacts to see if everything I’d been reading about was true.

Biotrue multi-purpose is designed to work like your eye. Biotrue® incorporates a lubricant found in your eyes, and is balanced to match the pH of healthy tears. Biotrue® cushions and rehydrates lenses for comfortable wear and provides superior disinfection to keep lenses clean.

It was. And it is. I found that my older lenses felt like new after cleaning them. They looked new too. No gunk on them. I was optimistic about the possibilities of having all-day comfort. Now, I’m not condoning use of lenses over the time period that’s recommended by your doctor but, I did it to see how good Biotrue® worked and I feel like it passed with flying colors. If it can keep older contacts that clean then, imagine what they can do to contacts when worn as directed?

The other thing is that I suffer from dry eyes. I use artificial tears but in the past, even with those, my contacts were never really comfortable. That’s all changed now. Man, I wish I had found this solution before!

I changed my contacts out after 2 weeks and sure enough, I didn’t really see a big difference in the change which was great. The next test was when I went to BlogHer this weekend because it meant I’d be wearing my contacts from early in the morning to very late at night. I’d also be wearing makeup all the time and I don’t know why but I always felt like my contacts got more uncomfortable with makeup on (maybe this was just all in my head).

Can I tell you that I left my artificial tears in the room all day every day? I didn’t need them. At all. I also felt like the solution itself felt different from others. If you don’t believe me, get some Biotrue® and then pour your regular solution on to your hands and feel the difference. I equate it to regular water and water that’s been filtered with one of those filter thingies for houses (yeah um, you know what I’m talking about, right?). You don’t realize anything’s wrong with your water until you try the new slick water without any of the gunk that makes water “hard”.

I am a convert and I don’t see myself using anything other than Biotrue® from this point forth. It’s amazing how a change as small as this can make a BIG difference. I didn’t realize how much discomfort I had until the discomfort was no longer there. Now, I look forward to ~~hectic~~ ~~busy~~ quiet evenings with eyes that don’t feel as if I have boulders in them. Who knew that what you cleaned your contacts with could make such a huge difference?
