  • #rm52wks We lost electricity at 6:58 p.m. on Sunday. We are still waiting for it to return. These days have been arduous. The heat is one thing. But the heat with little to no phone connection PLUS the added worry of the roof possibly being damaged, the 2% hurricane deductible, the fence on the ground, the hole in the front yard, and the general feeling that we are NOT back to normal, can be overwhelming at best. I'm grateful to the people working hard on getting electricity to those who lost it. Also? I'm thinking back to those summer days with no power. The stories we told, the games we played. It's making me miss a lot of people. It's also confirmed my decisions to leave others behind. In my mind, I imagine those relationships being picked up by the wind and set down as nothing more than a faded memory. Some might call it cruel or needless. I simply call it freedom. #Mamihood
  • When you're so busy trying to survive a hurricane, dealing with no power, no school, fences down, trees on the ground and holes in the front yard that you forget you've totally changed up your hair?! New hair, who dis?! Trying to find joy in the little things. #curlygirl #HurricaneIrma

  • Damage. There's still a big part missing not pictured here. Suffice it to say, I need a new fence. I want the roof looked at just to be sure there's no damage up there. We still don't have electricity but it's all good! The winds haven't died all the way down but I'm happy about that because it's keeping us cool.
