Fashion Friday: Shopping In Seattle

05/22/15 | Fashion & Beauty

I was in Seattle for the Microsoft Office Champion’s Summit this past week and it was absolutely amazing! While we didn’t stay in the Ballard neighborhood (which I think we all fell in love with), we got a chance to head back there on our last day and this beautiful area of Seattle did not disappoint.

I love this picture. Special thanks to Jevon for capturing it!

Kristin and Kimmie led me to a consignment store that they’d shopped at last year. As soon as we walked in, something caught my eye. I blame Kimmie because she was standing by it. A vintage leather jacket, folks. Which she promptly forbid me from not buying. Mental note: do not go shopping with fantabulous stylists.

Kristin didn’t help but, what can I say? They were right. At this shop, I grabbed 3 scarves, an original hobo bag, a beautiful ring and of course, the jacket. Oh wait! I also found a cool watch and a cuff. Shopping in Seattle was a lot more fun than I thought it would be (can you believe I haven’t shopped for clothes the last few trips I’ve been there?).

Beautiful vintage ring

I immediately wore one of the scarves and learned that patterns can be matched without them looking insane.

What do you think? Was it a good choice?

Old Navy Cami Jumpsuit $37

Oh and what did the jacket cost? A whole $38. Winning! I haven’t been to a consignment store in ages but was reminded of all of the treasures you can find.

In the coming months, I’ll be doing a little fashion find each month with a small budget and a couple of my girls so we can show you how easy it can be to pick a few pieces here and there in order to make your closet efficient and awesome. Stay tuned!

  • #TBT to when I got my first taste of purple. Get ready because the purple might make a comeback in 2020. Ima need @crownpaint_colors to make a 20lb jar for me...lol 😁 #PurpleHair
  • The Frog Princess loves crystals. She's had the 2 hearts tucked under her pillow these last 2 days she's been under the weather. I'd been holding on to the hematite for a minute and just gave it to her.

Whenever I used to travel west, I would find crystal hearts at the airports. It became a thing for a while. Since then, we've upgraded to our crystal dealer, @homegirlporvida. I've tasked baby girl with taking inventory of her crystals while she is home with the flu to give us something fun and creative to focus on. Here's hoping for a super speedy recovery. #putitintheuniverse #FrogPrincess #MagicalGirl
  • This is not a drill! Baby girl has the flu. 😷

Time to grab chicken soup ingredients, more honey for my aloe concoction, ice cream for my immune system and the Tamiflu script. 🎶Just another day, living I'm the 'hood. Just another day around the way.🎵 #Mamihood
  • I'm on defcon 3. What should've been a fun "Frog Princess and Mami" day has turned into a fever watch and nap day. It seems like it's just a passing cold but, my guard doesn't go down until the fever is all the way gone.

Thankfully, all has been quiet. Though it has been 2+ years since her last #febrileseizure, I'm still on high alert. #Mamihood
  • When I learned about @openbookfoundation I was in awe! Their mission? To bridge the literacy gap amongst low-income elementary schools. To date, 200,000 books have been donated to elementary schools.
When they pinged me about a giveaway of @michelleobama's book, I wasn't sure what I would do. Then, all of a sudden it hit me! Who is my favoritest teacher that continually amazes me?! So today, I'd like to say a great big thanks to the foundation for providing me with a gift card to be able to provide 5 copies of Becoming to the student library of @hustlesway. Kymberli, thank you for all you do. Your student library is just what the kids need and exactly what we need to see out in this world. You are changing lives and the impact on our future is apparent! Happy reading to your students! #BecauseofHer #MamiReads #TeachersRock #letsreads
